Reasons for Veneers in Mexico

Dental veneers are a way to correct and transform your smile by using “contact lens”-thin shells of porcelain or ceramic material and bonding them to the front of your teeth. They are strong and durable, look and feel like natural teeth, and improve your smile immediately.

  • They Correct Multiple Cosmetic Issues

Close gaps and spaces between the teeth, fix alignment issues, change the overall shape and appearance of a tooth

  • Durability

Dental veneers are also extremely durable. They last several years longer than traditional composite fillings. dental veneers last about ten to 15 years.

  • Easy to clean and Mantain

Keeping your veneers healthy and white is easy: You simply brush and floss them the way you do all of your teeth.

  • The Process is Simple

Getting dental veneers is a quick and easy process. You have a few short visits at Novadent Dental Clinic and see results. On average, it only takes about four weeks from your first appointment.

Types of Dental Veneers

1. Porcelain Veneers

Known for their exceptional aesthetics, durability, and stain resistance, porcelain veneers are a top choice for many patients. They are made from thin layers of porcelain, closely mimicking the natural translucency and color of teeth. Porcelain veneers are ideal for:

  • Major smile improvements, including chips, cracks, discoloration, and misalignment.
  • Creating a long-lasting, brighter smile.

However, porcelain veneers require some removal of tooth enamel for placement. Additionally, they are generally the most expensive veneer option.

2. Porcelain-Fused to Metal Veneers (PFM Veneers)

While less common than traditional porcelain veneers, porcelain-fused to metal (PFM) veneers offer a balance of strength and aesthetics. A metal base provides a strong foundation for the veneer, while a porcelain layer creates a natural-looking tooth surface. PFM veneers might be suitable for:

  • Patients needing extra strength due to bruxism (teeth grinding) or heavy chewing.
  • Situations requiring significant tooth structure removal.

However, the metal base in PFM veneers can sometimes show through as a dark line at the gum margin, impacting aesthetics. Additionally, they may not be the most suitable option for those with metal allergies.

3. Resin Veneers (Direct Composite Veneers)

Resin veneers, also known as direct composite veneers, are a more affordable alternative to porcelain veneers. They are made from a tooth-colored composite resin material applied directly to the tooth surface in layers by the dentist. Resin veneers are suitable for:

  • Minor chips, cracks, or gaps in teeth.
  • Slight discoloration or minor misalignment.

While cost-effective and requiring minimal tooth removal, resin veneers are not as strong or stain-resistant as porcelain veneers. They may chip or wear down faster, requiring replacement sooner.

4. Composite Veneers (Injectable Veneers)

Injectable veneers are a relatively new technique using a composite resin similar to traditional composite veneers. However, the resin is more flowable, allowing for injection into molds. Here’s what sets them apart:

  • Minimally Invasive: Often requires minimal to no removal of tooth enamel.
  • Quick Procedure: Can potentially be completed in a single visit.

However, injectable veneers share some drawbacks with traditional composite veneers:

  • Durability: May chip or wear down faster than porcelain veneers.
  • Staining: More susceptible to staining compared to porcelain.
  • Aesthetics: May not achieve the same level of natural-looking translucency as porcelain.

They can be a good option for minor corrections or trying out a new smile design before committing to traditional veneers.

5. Zirconia Veneers

Zirconia veneers are known for their exceptional strength and durability. Made from zirconium dioxide, a biocompatible material, they are a good choice for:

  • Patients who grind or clench their teeth.
  • Teeth prone to wear and tear.
  • Situations requiring significant structural support.

Zirconia veneers offer excellent aesthetics, but they can be slightly thicker than porcelain veneers and may require more tooth removal. Additionally, they might be more expensive than porcelain veneers.

6. Lumineers Veneers (Ultra-Thin Veneers)

Lumineers are a brand name for ultra-thin porcelain veneers. Their minimal thickness allows for a more conservative approach, often requiring minimal to no removal of tooth enamel. Lumineers can be suitable for:

  • Minor cosmetic corrections like discoloration or slight chips.
  • Patients hesitant about tooth removal.

However, Lumineers may not be as durable as traditional porcelain veneers for significant cosmetic concerns. They might also be a pricier option compared to some other veneer types.

7. Removable Veneers

Removable veneers, also known as snap-on veneers or clip-on veneers, are not permanently bonded to teeth. They are pre-fabricated from acrylic and fit over the existing teeth. Removable veneers can be a temporary option for:

  • Trying out a new smile design before committing to permanent veneers.
  • Hiding minor cosmetic flaws.

However, removable veneers can feel bulky or loose in the mouth and may affect speech. They also require special care and cleaning to maintain hygiene.

Procedure of Veneers in Mexico

In Mexico, getting veneers follows a similar process as in the United States. To begin, the dentist will make molds of your teeth. These molds are then shipped to a dental laboratory where your veneers will be crafted specifically for you.

Once the veneers are ready, your dentist will securely attach them to your teeth. The whole process typically involves one or two appointments with the dentist.

What does getting Veneers involve?

Veneers Consultation Appointment ;

The first step in getting a new set of veneers after proving to be a successful candidate is a consultation for x-rays and impressions. Meticulous cosmetic dentists will take this time to sit down and discuss the goals each patient is looking for with their new set of veneers. The next step is called a mock-up, which is a series of images the dentist will create to show the patient what the results will look like. Our Dentists will spend considerable time on these representations to ensure the patients will receive the best care and get the desired results.

Veneers Procedure Appointment ;

The day of the procedure, the dentist will remove a small bit of enamel from each tooth to create a space for the veneer to adhere to and not impede the patient’s bite. Then a putty mould is created of the teeth with that layer of enamel removed. This mould hardens and will be sent to a lab for the veneer creation. Sometimes , we and can have the veneer impressions created in-house with special 3D mapping technology.

Temporary veneers are prepared and applied while the patient waits for the lab to create the permanent ones. When the permanents arrive, the dentist will apply an acidic gel that dissolves minerals on the surface of each tooth so that there is a rough surface for the veneer to bond to solidly. Cementing the veneers in place is a quick process that involves a special light to speed the hardening process. Once the porcelain veneers are set, they will be bonded to the patient’s teeth in minutes.

Getting Use to Your New Veneers;

There is virtually no downtime when getting porcelain veneers and at the most, some might feel slight sensitivity to hot and cold food and drink due to the enamel that was removed beneath the veneers themselves. Other than that, patients are ready to flash their new pearly white teeth for all to see. Porcelain veneers tend to last ten years and have been known to last much longer.
